Richard Tuchscherer '66

Richard Earl Tuchscherer, 78, of Harlem, Georgia, entered into eternal rest
on October 7, 2025.
Richard was born in Louisville, Kentucky on June 21, 1947, grew up in
Louisville, Kentucky, and has lived in Columbia County since 1975. He retired
from the U.S. Army as a 1st Sargent after 20 years of service. Richard also
retired from the American Red Cross where he served as the Director of Disaster
Services in Augusta, Georgia and from Catholic Social Services where he served
as the Director in Augusta, Georgia. Richard enjoyed golfing, movies and making
bamboo walking sticks for friends and loved spending time with family and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Daniel Tuchscherer and
Martha Louella Williams Tuchscherer. Richard’s survivors include his wife of
40 years, Joy May Bratek Tuchscherer; his sons, John Richard Tuchscherer (Joann)
of Charleston, South Carolina and Tommy James Tuchscherer (Amber) of Theodore,
Alabama; his daughter, Ann Koreen Gibson of Flowery Branch, Georgia; his
brothers, John M. Tuchscherer of Charlotte, North Carolina and Mark D.
Tuchscherer (Deborah) of Louisville, Kentucky; his sister, Lisa P. Agnew (Bill)
of Louisville, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Cari Lynn Luniewski (Stephen),
Kasey Davis (Deana), Krista Gibson and Dakota Stilson; and 2 great
grandchildren, Chase and Sawyer Luniewski.
Rosary and wake service will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from
6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson,
Georgia. His Funeral Service, being officiated by Father Mark White, will be
held at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 1326 Washington Road, Thomson, Georgia
on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., followed by the burial at Savannah
Valley Memorial Gardens, 2235 Washington Road, Thomson, GA, with full military
honors and military pallbearers, with the honorary pallbearers being Charlie
Company 18th Infantry Regiment and Knights of Columbus, Council #6918.
